With seven first-year varsity players and a roster nearly devoid of seniors, this basketball season has been one of full of teaching moments for Harrison and head coach Noel Colon whenever they take the court.
Saturday’s lesson was one in mental toughness.
The Blue Tide saw their resolve tested when it failed to hold onto an eight-point lead late in the fourth quarter. They were, however, able to overcome it – as well as struggles from the foul line – to defeat University Academy Charter, 59-58, in overtime, at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Roundball Roundup.
It marks the fifth consecutive victory for Harrison after starting the season 0-4.
