When Rich Corsetto started out more than 40 years ago he never thought that some day he would reach this pinnacle.
Corsetto, now the North Arlington boys head basketball coach, made it 700 career wins when his Vikings defeated Becton, 59-32, on Thursday.
Corsetto was the head basketball coach at Passaic Tech in 1972 when he picked up his first victory. “No, I was just thinking about getting my first win,” said Corsetto about the mark.
And he added that he will keep coaching for a several more years. “I’m still kicking,” said the North Arlington head coach. “I’ll do it until I can’t get there anymore.”
For North Arlington athletic director David Hutchinson the addition of Corsetto to lead the program has been a shot in the arm. “It has been an honor to work with a legendary coach,” said Hutchinson. “His energy and enthusiasm are unmatched. In just a year and a half, he has revitalized our program from the recreation kids in town right up to the high school varsity team. There is a buzz surrounding boys basketball that has been exciting.”
