1B: Everett Garber
Dwight-Englewood senior
A second-team pick as an outfielder last season, Garber once again batted .500 (39-for-78), tallying 3 home runs, 27 runs batted in and 26 runs scored. Committed to Bucknell as a pitcher, the righty was 6-1 on the mound this season (14-5 career) with a 1.66 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 38 innings.
3B: Harrison Curran
Pompton Lakes senior
Curran scored four of his team-high 43 runs in the Group 1 final against Point Pleasant Beach, helping the Cardinals walk off with their first state championship. He hit .421 (40-for-95) with 21 runs batted in and 22 stolen bases, and on the hill, he did not allow an earned run in 17 innings.
OF: Rhys Bowie
Dwight-Englewood senior
Headed to Wake Forest as a pitcher, the repeat first-teamer showed his offensive prowess as well. The lefty hit .523 (34-for-65) with 5 homers and 22 runs batted in. Bowie (2-2, 2 saves) notched 11 wins in four years and struck out a school-record 232, with 81 coming in his 37⅓ innings this spring.
DH: Matt DeStaso
Glen Rock senior
DeStaso recorded 50 hits out of the leadoff spot, batting .543 and driving in 30 runs while scoring 45 more in the Panthers’ best season (23-4-1) in 25 years. He added 23 walks for an on-base percentage of .650, and he carried a .959 fielding percentage at shortstop for the NJIC Colonial champs.
Utility: Vinnie Stigliano
Pompton Lakes junior
Stigliano moves up from the second team thanks in part to a .478 batting average and 8-2 pitching record. He scored 30 runs and drove in 33 for the Passaic County finalists and Group 1 champs. The right-hander also logged a 2.91 ERA with a 39-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio and carries a 15-3 career record.
