North Jersey Interscholastic Conference Players of the Week
Andrew Del Rey, Waldwick, So., G
Del Ray has already scored more points this winter than he did all of last year. The sophomore is averaging 22.2 points per game for the Bergen County squad and just had 32 points last week in a close loss to New Milford. He connected on eight 3-pointers in that fame. The young guard has also been playing well with the ball in his hands, setting up teammates for scores.
Ka’Juan Gee, Paterson Charter, Sr., G
Gee transferred in from Manchester Regional a year ago and had his moments for Paterson Charter. Now, he’s become even more comfortable with this squad and is leading the way for a team that is 12-1. Gee dropped 32 points last week in a win over Eastern Christian and also scored 20 points in a 71-68 win over a tough Hackensack team. De’Angelo Hibbert, Giovanny Figueroa and Kyle Fulcher have also stepped up for one of the best Group 1 teams in Jersey.
Matthew Remias, Rutherford, Jr., F
Remias has stepped up this season for Rutherford after earning a starting spot for the Bulldogs. The junior had a monster game last week with 35 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks in a win over Becton. That was the sixth double-double this winter for Remias. Rutherford is off to a 10-2 start this season and players like Remias are helping set this team up for success. Senior Danny Francisco has also played well this season for the Bergen County squad.
