NJIC Boys Basketball Players of the Week

By

Ryan Berkowitz, Cresskill, Jr.

The junior has been a game-changer down low for this team and averaged nine rebounds per game last week. Berkowitz had seven points and 10 rebounds in a win over Midland Park and then came through with 10 points and eight rebounds against Waldwick.

Edward Burgos, Harrison, Sr

Burgos has been Harrison’s best playmaker all season and is averaging just under 20 points per game. The senior continued to play this past week, with 19 points against Weehawken, He scored a season-high 29 points in a close win over North Arlington earlier this month. That game came in the middle of a stretch of five straight games with 20-plus points.

Giovanny Figueroa, Paterson Charter, So.

The young guard has been locked in on defense and just put together another great week. In a win over Garfield, Figueroa came through with a career-high 10 steals. The sophomore averages 4.4 steals per game and that defensive effort is a big reason why this team has been so good this winter. Ka’Juan Gee, Adrian Mouzone and Deangelo Hibbert lead the offense.

Ryan Lagrasta, Wood-Ridge, Sr.

The senior has been one of the best scorers in the conference all season. He averaged 20 points per game in three games in the last week. Lagrasta’s week started with 24 points in a win over Bergen Charter. He followed that up with another 24-point game against Hasbrouck Heights. Lagrasta also averaged 7.5 rebounds per game during that stretch.

Jason Marasciulo, Ridgefield, So

Marasciulo put together one of his best games of the season in a 62-58 win over Bogota. The sophomore scored a career-high 31 points and also grabbed eight rebounds.
