North Jersey Interscholastic Conference Players of the Week
Jayden Ayala, Weehawken, Sr., G
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound playmaker has been a big-time scorer the last few years. Ayala is averaging 21.4 points per game for Weehawken so far this winter. The team is a perfect 7-0 after a win over Rutherford on Monday. Ayala had 25 points and 11 rebounds that night. He reached 1,000 career points in that game, cementing his status in school history.
Jason Marasciulo, Ridgefield, Sr., G
Marasciulo scored his 1,000th career point this month for Ridgefield. The senior has been a leader for a team that is off to a great start. He’s averaging a team-high 16.9 points per game. Senior Chris Pallata is also off to an impressive start. He dropped a career-high 33 points in an overtime win over Waldwick earlier this winter. Ridgefield is 6-2 at this point. That’s a great opening run for a program that finished 11-16 a year ago.
Mason Mangione, Glen Rock, Sr., G
The TCNJ commit is a dynamic playmaker and uses his 6-foot-3 frame to get off shots from almost anywhere. Mangione is putting up 24.4 points per game and is second in the conference, sitting right behind Waldwick’s Andrew Del Rey. Mangione helped Glen Rock make it to the NJIC Tournament title game a year ago. He’s hoping to lead the Panthers to the title in 2025, Mangione also has his eyes set on winning a North 1, Group 2 championship.
