THIRD TEAM ALL-STATE

F-Robert Dasler Jr., Lyndhurst, Sr.

It was a historic year on multiple fronts for Dasler, who became Lyndhurst’s single season (43) and all-time (88) career goals leader. His 43 goals this year also paced the entire state, as he had 12 multi-goal games including seven where he had a hat trick or better. He’s the third straight NJIC player to lead New Jersey in goals and the first Bergen County player to score more than 40 goals since 2019. He’s also the first All-Stater from Lyndhurst since 1989.

North Jersey Interscholastic Conference boys soccer postseason honors for 2025

Team of the Year: Glen Rock

The NJIC realigned its divisions this year into a promotion/relegation based system and sitting atop the newly formed top flight Colonial division was Glen Rock, which went 14-6 on the season and 7-3 in the division. No team in the conference was as good defensively as coach Matt Beverin’s group, conceding just 21 goals, the lowest mark in the conference. They were helped by seven shutouts on the year, and though they couldn’t repeat as North 1, Group 2 section champs, they still picked up signature wins against Waldwick, River Dell, Wallington, Dwight-Englewood, Emerson, Northern Highlands, Elmwood Park and Pompton Lakes over the course of the season.

Drew Carlin (14 goals, seven assists) was far and away the team leader on offense and was a first team All-Bergen County selection in the midfield while Andrew Kim (one goal, two assists) was a second team honoree on defense and Jacob Grinberg (nine goals, six assists) was a third team choice at forward.

Player of the Year: Robert Dasler Jr., Lyndhurst

It was a historic year for Dasler in multiple facets, who leaves the southern Bergen County school as arguably the greatest player in program history. He led the state in goals this year with 43, setting both the Lyndhurst single-season and career goals (88) record in the process. His exploits, which included 12 multi-goal games and six with a hat trick or better, garnered him third team All-State honors, becoming the first Lyndhurst player to land on an All-State team since 1989.

Coach of the Year: Tom Corizzi, New Milford

Few teams in the conference had the year-over-year turnaround of the Knights. After going 2-14-1 last year, Corizzi, who’s been at the helm since 2020, Corizzi guided New Milford to an 11-10-1 record and a divisional title, finishing atop the new NJIC American division. The Knights also made the finals of the BIT Silver tournament but more importantly, won their first state tournament game since 2013 with a 3-1 win over Wallkill Valley.

The Knights’ season is made that much more impressive given the fact they were the only division winner out of six that had a negative goal differential on the year, scoring 31 but conceding 45, with junior Paul Irmia leading the offense with 11 goals and two assists as the first double digit goal scorer for the program since 2022 as well.

Other storylines:

  • The upward trajectory has continued for Manchester Regional (15-6-1) as the Falcons have posted their most wins in a season in over 15 years, nearly doubling their total from an 8-15 campaign last year and posting just their second winning season in the last 15 years as well. Leading the charge on offense were Emmanuel Hernandez (13 goals, 13 assists) and Jayden Pallero (17 goals, 19 assists) while Kadir Yidliz had 11 goals and Christopher Jean-Baptiste (14) was one of the leading freshman goal scorers.
  • No team in the state had as potent an offense as Harrison (20-4-1). Coach Mike Rusek’s Blue Tide group led all of New Jersey with 103 goals scored as a team thanks to two different 20-plus goal scorers in Ezequiel Soto (20 goals, nine assists) and Kiandry Aban (25 goals, 12 assists). Pedro Barreto Reis also scored 15 goals, while he (16), Christian Barrios (14) and Samuel DeSouza (12) had double digit assists as well. The Blue Tide made both the Hudson County and North 2, Group 2 finals and won 20 games for the first time since 2019.
  • While Leonia (10-9-1) finished just above .500 this year but made history this year as the No. 24 and final seed in the Bergen County Tournament, winning two games — over ninth-seeded Ramsey, 3-1, in the first round and 2-1 over eighth-seeded Glen Rock in the second round. It marked Leonia’s first berth ever in the quarterfinals of the counties, and they pushed Bergen Catholic to the brink in the quarters, with the Crusaders winning the game with 1:10 left. Brennan Cortez (eight goals, five assists) led the offense and Milo Skibola (104 saves, three shutouts) impressed in his first year in net,
