#13-Garfield (20-1)

Last week: Not ranked

The Boilermakers finish the season ranked for the first time in over a decade after winning their first state title since 2015 thanks to a 2-1 win over reigning Group 3 champs Robbinsville in a game Garfield led 2-0 until the final five minutes. Under first-year coach Piotr Sala, Garfield set the standard for prolific offenses in the Garden State. His group led the entire state in goals (94), goal differential (+78) and was third in goals per game (4.48). This wasn’t just a team that was winning games 5-4 or 4-3, either. That goal differential speaks to just how good the defense was as well for a physical, fast, unrelenting unit that played well at both ends of the pitch.
