GLEN ROCK – Four minutes into their game against the Glen Rock Panthers, the Pompton Lakes Cardinals already had a 1-0 lead. By halftime, they had extended their lead to 2-0.
“We were fortunate to get an early one, which makes a big difference, and then to get a second one really put them on their heels I thought, and it also settled us down a little bit. Once that happened I thought we kind of got more comfortable and we were able to possess the ball really well in the second half and put the pressure on them, which was evident with the next two goals,” Cardinals head coach Rob Edgar said.
The Cardinals (6-0-1, 6-0-1 NJIC – Colonial) would indeed find the back of the net two more times in the second half, as they rode the first half momentum to a 4-1 victory over the Panthers (5-2, 5-2 NJIC – Colonial).
