NORTH JERSEY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE
BOYS SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Field player: Damian Taraska, Saddle Brook, Sr.
Taraska has been one of the NJIC’s top goal scorers this season and he continued that last week as Saddle Brook has enjoyed one of the conference’s top turnarounds. He has 17 goals and nine assists this season and had six goals and six assists last week, involving himself in all 12 of the Falcons’ goals with a hat trick and three assists against Butler and Hasbrouck Heights.
Goalkeeper: Francisco Apolo, Harrison, Sr.
Harrison has been on a tear of late and though Apolo has split time in net lately with Anas Oufrid and both have been strong, it’s Apolo who racked up more saves last week. In a 6-1 win against North Bergen he made five saves and in a 6-1 win against Becton, he made four saves. So far he has 64 saves in 12 games played.
