FIRST TEAM ALL-STATE
Javelin: Brady Shine, Hasbrouck Heights, Sr.
One of only two throwers to go above 200 feet this year, Shine’s consistent marks allowed him to cruise to the Meet of Champions title, winning at Pennsauken with a throw of 196-0. He threw 190 feet or more in five different meets, along with tossing a PR of 203-6 at the Aviator Invitational Relays.
Shot put: Evan Yuzon, Glen Rock, Jr.
When it came to the shot put this season, Glen Rock’s Evan Yuzon stood above the rest. The junior remained unbeaten in in-state competition, with his only setback coming in a sixth-place finish at the Penn Relays. Yuzon recorded a state-leading personal best of 64-2 to claim the NJIC Colonial Division title, then continued his dominant run by capturing Bergen County Group, North 1, Group 2 sectional, Group 2 state, and Meet of Champions titles. He also completed a rare sweep of Meet of Champions crowns in the event, adding the outdoor title to the one he secured during the indoor season this past winter.
