🏐 NJIC Players of the Week🏐
Jonathan Canseco, Jr., Wood-Ridge
Canseco has gotten off to a great start in his junior year and in four games this past week finished with 38 kills, 38 digs, 36 service points, and three aces. His 14 kills against Secaucus last Tuesday extended his run of games with kills in double figures to three straigts. Although that was snapped the following day, he still finished with nine kills against Nutley, eight against St. Mary (Ruth.), and seven against Elmwood Park. The 14 digs he had against Secaucus is a new-career high for the junior, and he almost broke it against Nutley as he finished with 13 digs in that game.
Matt Slaby, Sr., Lyndhurst
Slaby put together one of the most impressive performances of the entire season on Thursday when he finished with 21 kills, three blocks, two digs, and three assists in a three-set win over North Arlington. The 21 kills is a new career-high for him and broke his previous record of 20 kills. For the week he had 28 kills as Lyndhurst went 1-1.
