Garfield Boys Volleyball celebrates its 2024 North Jersey, Section 2 championship

When the top-seeded Garfield Boilermakers, ranked No. 17 in the NJ.com Top 20, and second-seeded Bergenfield Bears took the court at Garfield High School for Monday’s NJSIAA North Jersey Group 2 Final, one team was going to walk away with its first ever sectional title.
The gym was packed, and the crowd was loud. The stage was set for two of the best teams North Jersey had to offer. In the end, it was the home team that did just enough to prevail as Garfield emerged with a 2-1 victory by set scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-21.
Garfield’s victory advanced it into the Group 2 Final against St. Joseph (Met.), who defeated No. 10 Pinelands in straight sets in the South Jersey Group 2 Final, at South Brunswick on Thursday.
Bergenfield concludes its season with a 23-7 record, improving on the program’s 19-7 showing in 2023.
