
St. Mary (Ruth.) head coach Brian Gaccione got his 400th win as his team defeated Lyndhurst 89-75 in the Jack Stone Shootout in Rutherford.
The game was close in the first quarter, with Lyndhurst (3-2) holding a 17-15 lead. However, St. Mary (Ruth.) (4-1) took control in the second, outscoring Lyndhurst 28-14 to take a 43-31 lead into halftime.
St. Mary pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Lyndhurst 26-16 to take a commanding 69-47 lead into the fourth. Lyndhurst made a run in the final quarter, outscoring St. Mary 28-20, but it was too little, too late.
Matt Kennedy led the way for St. Mary, scoring a game-high 31 points, including six 3-pointers. He also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out three assists. Jake Ellis added 19 points and seven assists, while Merrick Olkowski chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Lyndhurst was led by Filoteo Mosca, who scored 25 points, including seven 3-pointers. Johnny Chaname added 21 points, while Avery Cano scored 16.
