Saddle River Day junior Saniah Caldwell celebrates with parents Michael and Sue after scoring her 1,000th career point on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 in Princeton. She reached the milestone in the second quarter of the Rebels' 75-61 win at Stuart Country Day.

Rebel’s standout Saniah Caldwell reached the 1,000-point milestone somewhat quietly last week. The junior swished home a left-elbow jumper with 2:53 left in the second quarter of Saddle River Day’s game at Stuart Country Day, which was shown on the Tartans’ YouTube channel.

The shot put her at 1,000 exactly, but play continued. It wasn’t until a dead-ball stoppage with 2:26 to go in the quarter that the scorer’s table notified players and coaches of the achievement. Caldwell’s family presented her with the appropriately-numbered balloons, and the Rebels gathered around her for photos. Caldwell became the third North Jersey player in as many days to surpass the millennium mark in scoring. Saddle River Day is slated to be home for games against Midland Park at Stuart Country Day this week.
