NJIC congratulates Joey Prsons, Waldwick HS, on his 100th career wrestling victory. In addition, he has claimed the District 138lb title & District 4 Most Outstanding Wrestler to spice up the celebration!

Meanwhile, not to be outdone in District 5….

Most Outstanding Wrestler: All eyes were on the nationally ranked showdown at 170 between Michael O’Malley of Hasbrouck Heights and Bergen Catholic’s Chris Foca. O’Malley was given the award after rolling to an 8-1 decision between the state’s two top-ranked wrestlers at their weight. O’Malley, a three-time state medalist and Cadet Pan-American champion, hit a five-point move late in the first period and never looked back. O’Malley, ranked ninth in the country by Intermat, will continue his career at Drexel.

District 3: Emerson Boro/Park Ridge  sweeps through to the team title with 230 points over Don Bosco ‘s 182. It has been a fantastic year for Coach Woods and his Mat-Men!

The co-op program, which finished runner-up in Group 1 this season, received titles from Nick Babin (106), Logan Mazzeo (113), Luke Mazzeo (132), Jonah Schechtman (152) and Zach Lewis (182) and second-place finishes from Connor Hughes (160), John Garda (170) and Shane Carcich (220) to go 5-3 in the finals. Luke Mazzeo improved to 37-0 this season following his 132-pound title.

Best wishes to all of our NJIC wrestlers at the Regionals.
