NJIC Football Players of the Week
Jason Alvarado, Bogota, Sr., WR/DB
Alvarado stood out while contributing to several areas of offense on Saturday night for Bogota. The senior wide receiver caught three passes for 74 yards and two touchdowns, and also led the Bucs in rushing with 86 yards and a touchdown on three carries. Nearly everytime Alvardo touched the ball, something good happened for the Bucs. He’s been a major threat as both a receiver and running back all season long.
Dylan Cerciello, Saddle Brook, Sr., RB/DB
Cerciello piloted Saddle Brook’s offense in its 49-0 win over North Arlington on Friday with 201 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries. He also contributed with two receptions for 15 yards, a two-point conversion, and six tackles (four solo) on defense. It’s the second week in a row Cerciello has gone over the 200-yard mark, but this time it came with double the touchdowns.
Dylan Ferrara, Waldwick-Midland Park, Sr., QB/LB
Waldwick-Midland Park needed a heroic performance out of Ferrara to clinch a playoff berth, and the senior provided one. In the Warriors 41-19 win over New Milford on Friday night, Ferrara rushed for 191 yards and scored five touchdowns on 29 carries. The Knights defense couldn not contain him as he was responsible for five of the Warriors’ six total touchdowns. Ferrara has rushed for at least 190 yards in each of the last five contests.
