Dylan Cerciello, Saddle Brook, So., RB/DB
Cerciello rumbled for 205 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in Saddle Brook’s 39-15 road victory over Wallington. The 205 yards ranked No. 6 in the state and led the NJIC in rushing by 35 yards. It’s Saddle Brook’s first win over a non-Union Division opponent since 2020.
Cole Hughes, Park Ridge, Sr., QB/DB
Hughes started off his 2023 season with a bang in Park Ridge’s 40-12 win over St. Mary (Ruth.). Hughes showcased his dual-threat and two-way ability, completing 3-of-5 passes for 94 yards for a touchdown, while rushing for 170 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries. He also made two tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown.
Cormac Smith, Hawthorne, Sr., RB/LB
Smith’s two-way impact was felt tremendously in Hawthorne’s 35-29 home win against North Arlington. The senior ran 17 times for 101 yards and three touchdowns, reeled in a 44-yard pass and recorded an interception on defense in the victory. He also racked up eight tackles from his linebacker spot.
