Dana Napoli is back where she was a couple of decades ago.

The new St. Mary softball head coach was the Lady Gaels pitcher when the school was dominant in the sport and collected state and Bergen County titles in the early 1990s.

And she is at the same field, Memorial Field in Rutherford, where she was setting down batters left and right while with the blue and white.

“It’s amazing that I’m here coaching at the same field where I was pitching for St. Mary, 20 years ago,” said Napoli who points out that there is now a fence dividing a couple of the homes that wasn’t there when she was playing for the Gaels.

After last season, Napoli was sought out by the St. Mary administration to help lead the Lady Gaels back to the promised land.
