Saddle River Day (22-4)

#14 final state ranking in NJ

Sadde River Day snapped a 12-game win streak and saw its season come to and end with a 84-66 loss to No. 1 Morris Catholic in the North, Non-Public B semifinals. Led by seniors Cristina Parrella and Julianna Almeida and junior Faith Williamson, the Rebels end the season with their eighth-straight Bergen County Tournament title.

NJIC girls basketballpostseason honors 2023-24

Player of the Year:

Allie Shenloogian, Park Ridge, Jr.

Allie Shenloogian has steadily improved during her high school career, and this year was no exception.The junior averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 2.7 assists per game as Park Ridge went 23-6 and won the NJIC Patriot Division title at 8-0. The Owls also advanced to the NJIC Tournament final and won their first North 1, Group 1 title in program history before falling to No. 10 University in the Group 1 semifinals.

She also became the program’s all-time leading scorer in Park Ridge’s win over Mountain Lakes in the sectional final. She broke the old record of 1,664 points set by Shannon Burns during the 2019-20 season, and currently has 1,676 points with another year of high school left.

Coach of the Year: Ryan Dennis, Park Ridge

During his eight years as head coach, Ryan Dennis has helped Park Ridge win a number of league titles and reach the sectional final three times, but this year went one step further.

Park Ridge went 23-6 and won the NJIC Patriot Division at 8-0, advanced to the NJIC Tournament final and won its first North 1, Group 1 sectional title with a 43-28 victory over Mountain Lakes, which was its first sectional title in program history.

Led by junior Allie Shenloogian, seniors Mary Craffey, Juliana Barros and Abigail McManus and sophomore Kate Broderick, the Owls opened the season on an eight-game win streak, lost only six games to Saddle River Day (twice), Westwood, Mahwah, Secaucus (in the NJIC Tournament final) and No. 10 University in the Group 1 semifinals, which snapped a seven-game win streak.

Team of the Year: Secaucus

Secaucus once again added to its resume this season.

Led by seniors Alyssa Craigwell, Mia Cruz and Katie Lynn Schneider and freshmen Olivia Buckingham and Ava D’Addetta, the Patriots went 22-7, won the NJIC National Division title with a 10-0 record and took down Park Ridge to win its third NJIC Tournament title after falling to Lodi Immaculate last season.

Secaucus also advanced to the Hudson County Tournament semifinals, where it fell to then-No. 16 Union City, and advanced to its second-straight sectional final where the season ended in a loss to Madison.
