Emerson Boro uses tough-schedule experience to pull upset
The No. 10 seed in the North 1, Group 1 playoffs faced a lot of the section’s top seeds in the regular season. So, when Emerson Boro played its first round game, it was ready for the challenge. Victoria Elek went off for 20 points in a 50-41 win over Kinnelon. Meanwhile, Ariana Matusic had an all-around great game with 15 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks.
Pompton Lakes matches Wallkill Valley early and often in upset win
Emma Diamond came through with 16 points as 11th-seeded Pompton Lakes went out and beat sixth-seeded Wallkill Valley, 50-42, in the first round of the North 1, Group 1 playoffs. Emily Ramirez and Kayla Sampong each finished with 12 points for Pompton Lakes, which came out firing and led 17-16 after the first quarter.
Girls North 2 Group 1
Arts pulls off the biggest upset of the day, knocks out Weehawken
Arts came into the playoffs as a No. 15 seed, but found a way to make some major noise with a 37-28 win over second-seeded Weehawken in the North 2, Group 1 playoffs. Aaliyah Amos led the way with 13 points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists. Arts was outscored 8-2 in the first quarter, but found a way to bounce back and shock Weehawken.

Park Ridge gets it done in OT
Jordan Spagnola and Zach Uhl scored nine points apiece to lead seventh-seeded Park Ridge over 10th-seeded New Milford in overtime, 38-37, in the North 1, Group 1 first round. Brendan McDowell added seven points for Park Ridge, which outscored New Milford 7-6 in overtime. The two sides were tied 31-31 at the end of regulation
Boys North 2, Group 1
Weehawken upsets fourth-seeded Brearley
Weehawken, seeded 13th, fashioned a 19-8 third quarter to open a 30-19 lead in Kenilworth.
