Star Ledger NJIC Players of the Week
Defender: Emmi Chong, Cresskill, Jr.
Chong and the Cresskill defense had one of their best weeks of the season. After closing out last week with a loss, the Cougars opened this week with a strong showing and didn’t allow a goal in a 0-0 tie with Park Ridge last Thursday. Four days later the defense continued to shine, and Chong got on the stat sheet. She scored a goal as Cresskill picked up a second straight shutout and beat Cliffside Park 7-0.
Goalkeeper: Zoe Berger, Dwight-Englewood
Berger was busy in goal this week, but it all paid off as she was able to help Dwight-Englewood secure two wins in two games. She made seven saves last Thursday in a 7-2 victory over Elmwood Park, and then set a new career-high in saves with 16 in a 4-2 win over Emerson Boro on Monday. The Bulldogs scored a ton to help Berger out, but also gave up a lot of shots. Berger was there to stop most of them.
