North Jersey Interscholastic Conference Players of the Week
Forward: Mia Worthington, Emerson Boro, Sr.
Worthington’s play this week helped Emerson Boro gain some positive momentum for the first time this season. She got on the stat sheet in all three of the Cavaliers’ games this week with six goals and one assist. She opened the scoring against Leonia on Saturday and would wind up scoring one more time in a 7-0 win, and then showed up big time with a hat trick and the OT winner in a 4-3 win over Midland Park. She’s now up to 12 goals this season, which is one away from her previous season high.
Midfielder: Emma Lopez, Saddle River Day, So.
For this first time this season, Saddle River Day really found itself pushed by its competition this week. The Rebels’ got through it unscathed with two wins, and Lopez was one of the biggest reasons why. She scored twice, including the OT game winner, in a huge 3-2 win over Waldwick last Thursday and picked up an assist in that game as well. In a 2-1 win over Cresskill on Monday, she scored one goal as the Rebels ran its record to 6-0.
