North Jersey Interscholastic Conference Players of the Week
Forward: Alexa Rincon, North Arlington, Fr.
Rincon, who is just a freshman, came up clutch this week for North Arlington in elimination games. She scored her first career hat trick and totaled four goals to account for most of the offense in the Vikings’ 5-1 win over Midland Park in the first round of the Bergen County Invitational on Thursday. Just two days later in the quarterfinals she assisted on Mia Bianco’s game winning goal to send the Vikings past Indian Hills in a 1-0 final.
Midfielder: Dominique Desert, Saddle River Day, Jr.
Desert was huge for Saddle River Day as the Rebels picked up two major victories. The first came last Wednesday in the Bergen County Tournament first round. Desert picked up her second hat trick of the season and led the Rebels to a 4-1 win that put them into the quarterfinal round for the first time in over a decade. On Tuesday she scored one goal in a 2-1 win over Waldwick, which clinched the Patriot division for the Rebels.
