200: Kylie Castillo, Ridgefield, Sr.

For the second outdoor season in a row, Castillo was the runner-up in the 200 at the M of Cs. This year’s state silver came via a 24.34, which ranked No. 8 in N.J. Her PR coming into the spring was a 24.88 from last year’s group meet. The Columbia commit picked up wins at the NJIC Division Championships (25.09), Bergen County Championships (25.04), sectionals (25.53) and groups (25.59).

NJIC girls track & field Athlete of the Year, postseason honors for 2024

Athlete of the Year:

Kylie Castillo, Ridgefield, Sr.

Castillo saved her best stuff for late in the season and won more hardware at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions. The Columbia commit clocked a PR 24.34 to notch second in the 200 and a 56.53 to place sixth in the 400. She placed second in both races last spring. Her PR 54.98 in the 400 came at the Bergen County M of Cs and she ran a PR 12.34 in the 100 in a victory at groups. The 100 race was No. 41 in the state while her 200 and 400 bests respectively ranked No. 8 and No. 4 in N.J. Castillo won five times in the 400, four times in the 200 and she won all four of her 100 races.
