Becton is home to a state champion wrestler, at last. Her name is Izabella Frezzo.

Frezzo completed a dominant senior season at 107 pounds with a 6-2 victory over Belleville’s Alisa Safforld in the state final. It was her third win over Safforld this season, including victories in the region and BCWCA finals.

Frezzo became the first Becton wrestler (male or female) to reach a state final, much less win one. She joins James Dugan as the only Wildcats to win two state medals.

Izabello Frezzo of Becton beat Anastasia Regalado of Lakeland in the 107 pound final match during the Bergen County girls wrestling tournament at Elmwood Park High School in Elmwood Park on 01/05/20.

Additional NJIC medalists:

Maria Taseva (Elmwood Park)

151 pounds / 5th place medal winner

Kayla Zeppetelli (Bogota/Ridgefield Park)
