Bogota Bucs

May 4, 2015

The North 1, Group 1 state baseball tournament, always a most interesting affair, should have a nice new twist this season with the addition of resurgent Bogota.

The Bucs (8-5) have come a long way in three seasons under coach Dan Limone. They were 2-17 in 2013, and followed up last year’s 9-15 campaign by winning eight of their first 13 games.

“That first year, I don’t think we had any clue how to win,” Limone said. “Last year, we had a little taste by winning some big games.

“This year, though, we know how to win. We’ve learned how to rise to the occasion and close out games.”

In a tournament that always has an “anything can happen” feel to it, that’s a potential difference-maker.

“Our goal is to be competitive in the state tournament,” Limone said. “We believe we can compete with any team, and we just want to get into the state tournament and make a name for ourselves.”
