Ridgefield

First, a confession.

Several times this season I wanted to see Ridgefield play baseball on a Friday or Saturday, but was put off by the 7 p.m. start time. Because of deadline issues and the early spring chill, it just didn’t seem to be a prudent choice.

Boy, was I wrong.

I won’t make the same mistake with a big game next spring, not after spending Friday night watching the Royals beat Cedar Grove, 2-1, to claim their second North 1, Group 1 title in three years.

That little field chiseled into the corner of Shaler Boulevard and Banta Place rocks for the Royals. Things obviously were amped up a little Friday because it was a state game, but it appears to be the place to be in that town on a spring Friday night.
