Senior designated hitter Michael Ragone’s RBI groundout scored senior first baseman Chris Martucci with what emerged as the game-winning run Friday in top-seeded Ridgefield’s 3-2 win against sixth-seeded Weehawken in the North 2, Group 1 baseball final in Ridgefield.
Senior right-hander Eamon Catherina pitched two innings of scoreless relief to earn the win for Ridgefield, its second straight sectional title and its third in four years.
Senior catcher Santo Guinta knocked home Ridgefield’s first two runs, on an RBI groundout in the first inning and a run-scoring double in the third.
Ridgefield (23-9), ranked No. 18 in The Record Top 25, advanced the state Group 1 semifinals. The Royals will play North 1, Group 1 champion Emerson at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Lyndhurst.
