Willie Krajnik still isn’t quite sure how it happened.

Maybe it was the strain of throwing the football as the St. Mary quarterback last fall. Perhaps the right-hander overdid it this winter with weightlifting and throwing to get ready for his senior season.

It could’ve even happened shoveling snow in February.

“Or maybe a combination of everything,” Krajnik said. “I don’t know.”

And so the bad news is  that the Gaels, ranked No. 13 in The Record baseball Top 25, have had to do without one of the premier pitching prospects in North Jersey. But the good news for Krajnik is that there is no structural damage to his sore shoulder.

He’s undergoing another round of physical therapy and there’s still a chance Krajnik can emerge as a St. Mary secret weapon in the Non-Public state tournament later this month.
