PATERSON — Time and again Tim Klarmann stepped to the foul line and made his free throws, and that’s what saved St. Mary. The Gaels squeezed out a 62-59 victory over Paterson Charter on Thursday night, and are now alone atop the NJIC Meadowlands Division because Klarmann was 12-for-12 from the line.
“From the foul line, he bailed us out,” St. Mary coach Brian Gaccione said.
Klarmann, a senior guard who last season earned first-team All-Bergen honors, scored 12 points in the fourth, including 7-for-7 from the line, en route to a game-high 24 points in Paterson Charter’s new 600-seat gymnasium.
“It’s a tough environment to play in,” Klarmann said, “and we’ve never been here, but we just kept attacking and got to the free throw line and made them, luckily.”
