Quietly, Ron Kruis has forged a four-year career that’s made him the all-time leading scorer in Midland Park boys basketball history.
With two games remaining in his career, both at home, the senior guard and four-year starter also has a chance to finish among the top 40 all-time scorers in Bergen County history.
“I never thought I was going to have this many points when I came in,” Kruis said.
Kruis has 1,540 points, based on results reported this season to The Record. He will crack Bergen’s all-time top 40, according to research by The Record, if he finishes in the high 1,500s.
His career has been quiet because he plays for a small Group 1 program that’s had modest success. Midland Park (8-14) has qualified for the Bergen Jamboree only four times, and has won one game in the event’s 59-year history.
