Highlights of NJIC boy’s basketball

* Bogota’s top player, senior G Danny Connors, dislocated his shoulder in the second game of the season and coach Jay Mahoney said his return date is yet to be determined. Connors is a four-year starter and potential 1,000-point career scorer. Bogota (1-4) has averaged just 36.7 points per game in his absence.

* Cresskill senior F Sean Kelly appears to be at full strength after missing the start of the season due to an ankle injury suffered during the football season. The Cougars’ co-captain had 20 points and eight rebounds in Saturday’s 60-41 win over Dwight-Englewood. Their other co-captain, senior G Matt Flood, is averaging 19.5 points and 8.0 rebounds through six games.

* Rutherford bounced back from two season-opening losses to win four consecutive games and the Bartlett tournament title at Lyndhurst. The Bulldogs, who went 6-17 last season, have benefited from balanced scoring. Sophomore guard Dominick Mignone, junior center Regan Scanlon, and senior guards Diego Miguens and JC Schmidt each average between nine and 11 points per game.
