Dwight-Englewood avenged its lone league loss of the season with a 61-44 victory over Queen of Peace in Tuesday’s boys basketball action.
The Bulldogs lost an NJIC contest to the Golden Griffins on Dec. 22.
Freshman guard Tyson Etienne set a new career high with 20 points in just his sixth career game. Sophomore center Xavier Wilson added 12 points, six rebounds and five blocks in the victory, which ties both teams atop the NJIC Liberty division.
NEW MILFORD 55, HARRISON 53 (At New Milford): Junior Caleb Wright scored 10 points and blocked a potential game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer as New Milford held off Harrison. Sophomore forward Matt McElroy led New Milford with 16 points and seven rebounds.
LYNDHURST 53, SECAUCUS 50 (OT) (At Lyndhurst): Senior guard Pete Guerrero had a career-high 33 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter and four more in overtime as Lyndhurst outlasted Secaucus. Sophomore guard Adryan Lopez hit a three pointer and stole the ball back for a layup, pulling Lyndhurst within a point in regulation. Senior center Justin Smith hit a free throw with three seconds left to send it to the extra session.
