WAYNE – Dillon Cilento did it again, and Nick Cilento had only one response.
Dillon, Pompton Lakes’ anchor, began Thursday’s North 1B sectional boys bowling tournament with a 279, which held up as high game throughout the afternoon at T-Bowl II. The senior had won high game at last month’s Passaic County tournament in similar fashion.
Nick, the Cardinals’ freshman No. 4 bowler, saw that number on the overhead scoreboard and had only one thought.
“It got me more motivated to come back and beat him the next two games, to make the [state] singles finals,” the younger Cilento said.
The brothers helped Pompton Lakes (2,960) repeat as Group 1 champion, but Nick earned bragging rights with a 731 series that lifted him to the individual title. Dillon Cilento finished with a 637 set, and junior Frank Magyar had a 606.
