The list of great players who have come through the Wallington soccer program is dotted with great leaders. Most recently, players like Konrad Plewa, who led the Panthers to a state title in 2010, Hubert Dul and Jan Chmura.

This season, senior Damian Agaj is looking to follow in the footsteps of some of those greats as the Panthers’ captain. But he’s not about to toe the line.

“I don’t want to see myself as the next in line,” he said. “I want to believe that I’m the first in line.”

A shy newcomer from Albania two years ago who couldn’t speak the language, Agaj is putting his stamp on the Panthers as an aggressive, attacking group under first-year head coach Alessandro Barchi.

“In Albania, everybody wants to attack,” he said. “We want to try to get everybody up with us to score and everybody back to defend.”
