ENGLEWOOD – Dwight-Englewood coach Joe Iwanski had just watched his second doubles team of Jason Yoon and Sumukh Sridhara crawl back from down 4-0 in the second set to 4-3 when he pulled them aside to talk. “I asked Jason how many times we had found ourselves in this situation,” Iwanski said. “He’s a four-year starter, and I couldn’t tell you how many times he got the clinching point in a big match. He just laughed.”
And he then went on with Sridhara to complete the run of six straight wins for a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Darius Chuback and Jared Diebe of Saddle River Day. The win clinched the second-seeded Bulldogs’ 3-2 victory over the third-seeded Rebels in the semifinals of the North Non-Public B sectional tournament Wednesday while avenging an upset loss to the Rebels in last year’s sectional semifinal.
Dwight-Englewood will face the winner of the match between top-seeded and defending champion Newark Academy and fourth-seeded Montclair-Kimberley in the sectional final Monday.
