Mikaela Heyboer’s path to success on the soccer field can be traced back to a spare bedroom-turned-home studio. The space inside those light-blue painted walls is filled with all manner of pencils, brushes and paints. Her easel has taken up residence by the door. Two windows allow light to splash inside on sunny mornings.
