Last year’s record; final ranking: 12-0; No. 5
Marquee game: Oct. 12 at Glen Rock
Best Assets: Corey Flynn and Drew Rayford, a pair of 6-foot-3 senior receivers, made opponents pay last season for double-covering either of them. Flynn caught 35 passes for 474 yards and 11 TDs and Rayford caught 30 passes for 583 yards and 8 TDs. Senior Bobby Shaw, a 6-1, 315-pound left tackle, didn’t allow a sack last season and will protect a first-year starting QB’s blind side.
Biggest concerns: The Cardinals brought back six starters on defense, but they need to account for graduated play-makers who helped produce a combined plus-46 turnover margin the past two seasons. New senior QB Adam Rayford has a strong arm and can run, but must at least approach Robbie Meyers’ success (40 TD passes, just seven INTs in two seasons as the starter) if the Cardinals are to make a run at a third straight North 1, Group 1 title.
