EAST RUTHERFORD – Cresskill senior Matt Ferrara made the most of his second chance. Becton hopes it gets one in a month or so.

Ferrara, a senior running back/kicker, drilled a 31-yard field goal with 10 seconds left as the Cougars rallied for a dramatic 9-7 win over Becton on Friday night.

“I’m so proud of my kids tonight,” said Cougars first-year coach Kevin Quinn. “When they took the lead, our kids kept fighting. Some teams here in the past could have folded, you know, it’s a close game, we are going to lose, same old Cresskill. Our guys didn’t.”

This was a matchup of two undefeated contenders in the North 1, Group 1 bracket and it was a defensive struggle from the start, with only one offensive touchdown.
