PATERSON — That rugged, independent schedule that Immaculate Conception played this season paid its biggest dividend Wednesday afternoon.
The second-seeded Blue Wolves took an early lead and never looked back, stopping top-seeded Morris Catholic, 46-35, at Kennedy High School to win their first North Non-Public B championship.
“This is awesome,” IC coach Jeff Horohonich said. “They’ve worked so hard, trying to get over that hump and win something before Sam [Fuehring] graduates. We’ve come close, but this, this is an accomplishment.”
“This is what we meant all year long, talking about unfinished business. This is one of those moments we waited for.”
The Blue Wolves (23-7) face the winner of the South Non-Public B title game between St. Rose and Roselle Catholic on Saturday at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River.
