SADDLE RIVER — For two days straight, the McMahons were left playing the “would have, could have, should have” game.

“I think every other sentence out of my parents’ mouths were, ‘We had that game. We had it,'” Saddle River Day girls lacrosse star Daniella McMahon said.

“I think we were all like that.”

A gut-wrenching 11-10 defeat to then-unbeaten Northern Highlands in the Bergen County quarterfinals, after leading 9-2 at half, potentially could have derailed the Rebels’ season.

But this resilient and talented bunch wasn’t having it.

Since the loss to Highlands, Saddle River Day (15-3) has won three straight, including a 13-12 win over Ramapo on Saturday. On Wednesday, it turned in a dominant 18-5 win over Waldwick in the first round of the North Group 1 tournament.
