No. 25 girls soccer
Lyndhurst
Last year’s record: 16-4
Final ranking: 25
Marquee game: at New Milford, Sept. 5
Best assets: “We graduated nine seniors from last year’s team, so we’re young and energetic,” coach Kim Hykey said. Lyndhurst welcomes back senior center midfielder Giana DiTonto, who had two goals and 22 assists last year. Senior Jessica Failace is “an absolute workhorse,” Hykey said. “I’m going to depend on the two of them a lot to control the game and the flow.” Sophomore Amanda Fulcher, the top returning goal scorer, looks to improve on last year’s seven goals. Junior Sara Barreros becomes the new starter at goalkeeper.
Biggest concern: “We have to find goals somewhere,” Hykey said. “We have to generate goals.” A young group of defenders will be led by senior Christiane Piezas. “I have to think we’re going to be competitive, but we have some question marks,” Hykey said.
