CALDWELL — No longer is Immaculate Conception’s Andee Lupica the wide-eyed freshman taking part in her first varsity season.
Though only a sophomore, the Blue Wolves’ star is one of the more experienced players on a very young softball team which features just one senior.
After falling to Delaware state power Caravel, 4-1, Saturday morning and in need of a victory in the second game of a doubleheader at the Mount St. Dominic Invitational against Pequannock, Lupica got the start in the circle.
She fired a complete game in the 3-1 win over the Panthers, allowing one run on five hits and was the beneficiary of several great defensive plays, including a pair of tag outs at the plate on assists from freshman right fielder Ashley Callahan (third inning) and junior third baseman Danielle Distel (fourth inning).
