H.S. Ice Hockey: Glen Rock starts new year strong

With a 3-1 record in the new year, Glen Rock High School’s ice hockey team entered the week with a 9-2-2 mark overall and a first-round bye in the 2015 Bergen County tournament. The third-seeded Panthers will vie in the event’s quarterfinals tonight at the Ice Vault in Wayne.

Semifinal games will be played on Sunday, and the championship game is slated for next Wednesday.

Glen Rock moved into first place in the Big North Freedom Division on Sunday with an 8-3 win over Northern Highlands at Sport-O-Rama in Monsey, N.Y. Junior Justin Rosario scored two goals and dished out two assists to lead the day.

The Panthers led the way in the division with a 6-0-1 record for 13 points, one ahead of St. Joseph (6-1, 12 points). Pascack Valley/Hills ranked third (4-1-3, 11 points), and Highlands slipped to fourth (4-4-1, 9 points).
