The Record

In a week when Ve’Shawn Polite scored 39 points against New Milford, 36 against Manchester and 47 against Wood-Ridge, he learned the most about himself the night he scored only 22 against Hawthorne.

The Elmwood Park senior picked up a few early fouls and was forced to take a seat on the bench early in the first half last Tuesday.

But rather than sit there and let his frustration get the best of him, he focused on his teammates and what he could do to help them.

The Record Male Athlete of the Week said it was a moment when he found himself “reaching that next level in terms of maturity.’’
