He made eight tackles, defended three passes and intercepted a pass.
But none of the spectators at Elmwood Park’s 34-7 victory over Pompton Lakes on Saturday saw the senior’s best performance.
That came before the game, when the running back/safety assembled his teammates, looked them in their eyes, and gave a rousing speech.
“I’m pretty much the vocal leader on the team,” said Violante, The Record Male Athlete of the Week. “That’s just what I love to do. I love getting everyone going. That’s just the type of player I am.”
Coach Tom Mulligan calls Violante “the guy every coach wants on his team.”
