RIDGEFIELD PARK – Julia McClure can’t wait to get in the batter’s box for her first regular season action of 2015. And to test herself with some tough infield grounders deep in the hole.
Secaucus’ McClure sat on the bench for the second straight game Monday in the Patriots’ 20-3 victory over Dwight-Englewood in an NJIC Liberty Division contest at Overpeck County Park. She is recovering from a long and largely fruitful winter on the basketball court, and she was also rested because Secaucus coach Amanda Jones is tinkering with a couple of different lineup plans before the Patriots start hitting the meat of their season with a big division home game against defending North 2, Group 2 champion Lyndhurst on Wednesday.
“I’m really looking forward to helping this team to hopefully win a lot of games and compete for some championships this year,” said McClure, a senior shortstop and one of the top three-sport athletes in North Jersey.
