LYNDHURST — Lyndhurst junior Jenn Tellefsen went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and allowed one run on four hits with 12 strikeouts as the second-seeded Bears defeated 15th-seeded Hackettstown, 6-1, on Saturday in the opening round of the North 2, Group 2 state tournament.

Tellefsen upped her her season strikeout total to over 230 in 25 games, and Grace Tomko went 2-for-3 with a solo home run to give Lyndhurst a 2-0 lead.

Four other Bears — Haley Duffy, Dina Ingenito, Brooke Laverty and Alyssa Pipon — all recorded one RBI for Lyndhurst, which will meet No. 7 Fort Lee in the quarterfinals.
