KENILWORTH – Jonice Concha and Mimi Jeremic each scored a run on an error in the sixth inning, and Amanda Baric scored on another miscue in the seventh to give Ridgefield a 3-2 victory over Brearley Regional in the North 2, Group 1 championship game Friday.
Sixth-seeded Ridgefield (23-6) won its first sectional softball championship in school history. The Royals will play Cedar Grove in a state Group 1 semifinal game on Tuesday at Caldwell University.
Sophomore right-hander Marissa Semeraro threw a five-hitter, striking out six for Ridgefield, which has won 12 of its last 14 games.
Freshman third baseman Jackie Lara went 2-for-4 for Ridgefield with a single and a double, and Jeremic (two singles) was also 2-for-4.
With Ridgefield leading, 3-0, Semeraro allowed two runs in the bottom of the seventh but worked her way out of further trouble.
With the loss the Brearley Regional Bears (15-8) had an eight-game winning streak snapped.

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION 8, MONTCLAIR KIMBERLEY 3 (at Lodi) – The defending state champion and top-seeded Blue Wolves got solo homers from Lea Georgatos, Nicolette Kupersmith and Sam Krakowski to cruise into Tuesday’s sectional final, a 5 p.m. state against second-seeded Hudson Catholic at Montclair State. Georgatos, who led off the bottom of the first with her homer, drove in three runs and Gabby Fredette drove in two for top-seeded Immaculate Conception (20-5).
